Birds of Bangladesh

Birds help the natural beauty to keep attractive. Our Motherland is so much green and beautiful because of Birds of Bangladesh. The Birds of Bangladesh are assets of our nature. They are the reason we can call our country ‘Beautiful Bangladesh‘.
The bird is one of the most different species of other animals. 150-200 million years ago the birds originated from bipedal carnivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic. Its subsequent evolution gave rise to innumerable species, many of them of surprising beauty. Here we show the list of most beautiful birds of Bangladesh.


Different Birds of Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, people get up early in the morning by snooping sweet songs of diverse birds of Bangladesh. It is an attractive and farming country. In addition, it has a large amount of, fish, shrubs, insects, trees, fruits, forest, boggy piker and rivers. All these things have made Bangladesh as a picture-perfect ideal place for the birds of Bangladesh to live.

The climate of Bangladesh is very suitable for birds to grow and breed. That is why we see different types of birds of Bangladesh. There are some other birds come from distant cold countries during the winter season. They are called invited Bird locally it known as Otithi Pakhi. We can divide the Birds into four types:

·         Taunt birds

Some birds are familiar as especially noisy birds. We can give some example Magpie. The cat is natural enemies because cat kills the bird if they can catch them. The buzzard taunted its foes with crows. Buzzard and crows do not tolerate each other. These birds usually called Taunt Birds.


Magpie

At first, we want to mention the national bird of Bangladesh. Magpie Robin. It is so ordinary and so attractive amongst birds of Bangladeshi. Moreover, Magpie bird is medium in size and its not too big.

  • Magpie tone is looking so sweet you may see it anywhere.
  • It feeds mainly on insects.
  • Magpie constructs the nest in bushes and jungle to stay safe.
  • There are 35 species that found of this bird In Bangladesh. It is locally called “Doel”.

Crow

It is one of the popular and familiar birds of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, Crow is seen throughout the country from sunrise to sunset.
  • Crow color is black by born.
  • Physically, Crow has powerful leg and spikes.
  • Crow can be medium and large.
  • It is so intelligent bird. However, its voice is not good to listen.
  • It makes the nest at the height point of the tree.
  • Local people of Bangladesh called it”kak”.
Crow is not a domestic bird. It is not habituated to live inside domestic environment. Rather, we find Crow on mostly nasty places and also lives on dirty foods roadside and bin.

·         Singing Birds

Some birds have beautiful tones or sounds. When they make sound it seems they can sing songs. Singing birds such as Cuckoo, Peacock, House Sparrow etc.

Cuckoo

Cuckoo can be seen in different in size amongst birds of Bangladesh. Specially Cuckoo is famous for its beautiful voice. The girl whose voice is sweet is often compared with ‘Cuckoo’s tone’.
  • Cuckoo has strong legs and a long tail.
  • Usually in the spring and stay until the summer, it looks everywhere.
  • Cuckoo birds are famous for its song. Everyone likes its sweet voice.
  • There are 20 species have been found in Bangladesh.
  • Locally it is called “Kokil ‘.

Goldfinch

The goldfinch is without a doubt a bird of beautiful colors and magnificent song. There are well-known competitions in which many proud owners show the delicacy of the voice of this bird. It is popular and it does not surprise us.
  • Due to the malpractice and the illegal activities, the goldfinch reduces day by day.
  • Its possession, breeding or adoption is banned in many places.
  • It is a protected bird and for that reason, we can only enjoy seeing it in the field, in a free state.
Even so, in some places, the possession of males allowed, as long as a valid license is certified. As a tip, we recommend you not to carry out these practices. Many of the captured birds end up dying of sadness and anxiety.

Bulbuli

In other birds, Bulbul is very special popular birds of Bangladesh. Bulbuli looks small and beautiful.

  • It has short passerine neck thin.
  • They eat insects and sings very sweetly.
  • It is a medium-sized bird with a nice crest, plump belly, comparatively short.
If we compare its wings with its tail, in its head we can see the black color mostly.

  • Only 11 species can found in Bangladesh.
  • People of Bangladesh locally called this bird as “bulbuli”.

Peacock

Among all species of Peacock green and blue peacock can be seen in Bangladesh. On the other hand, some gray Peacocks might be seen in Bangladesh and they are in danger of extinction. The presence of the peacock of Bangladesh has its origins. Since thousands of years have revered for its mysticism and its usefulness.
  • Generally, the peacock is a bird representing the natural beauty.
  • Its feathers create the most beautiful and colorful range of colors.
  • This beautiful bird inhabits places less than one thousand eight hundred meters in altitude.
  • Usually, it lives in jungle and agricultural areas, spaces with abundant water.

House Sparrow

The common sparrow is probably one of the best-known birds and needs less presentation. However, the fact makes their main characteristics go unnoticed, which described below.
  • The male has the dark gray color.

The Nightingale

These little birds sing in an amazing way. It includes very different tonalities. Generally learns melodies from his parents then transmits to his descendants.

Eagles

In birds, eagle birds are so powerful. They have sharp eyes, influential claws, strong legs and powerful curved beaks to tear the flesh to its destination.

  • Eagles make their nest on large trees to keep their child secure.
  • There are about 26 species of eagles present in Bangladesh.
  • People locally called it ‘bazpakhi’, ‘chil’, ‘eagle’.

·         Gaming Birds

Kingfisher

The Kingfishers are very obliging birds of Bangladesh. They live in a watery place. Very usual with simple and always hunting foods alongside river or pond. Kingfisher is also fond of small frogs and crabs.

  • Kingfisher is small and medium-sized heron and large bird size.
  • They take the small fish to feed their child.
  • Scientist found 11 Kingfisher species live In Bangladesh.
  • People locally calls them “Machhranga”.

Black-capped Kingfisher

It is a bird about 30 cm. Black-capped Kingfisher has a black head, white chest, and a pretty- red beak, lower part dark blue, yellowish-orange chest and red legs. Female and male have the same color in their plumage. It is one of the loveliest amongst birds of Bangladesh.

Owl

Owls can be small to large bird in size. Owl has strong legs and very influential big eyes looking forward and ear holes. Most of the owls are dynamically hunting their quarry only at night.
  • Owl usually cannot see clearly at day.
  • Owl lives mainly on, mice, rats, insects, and rabbits.
  • They make their nest in, hills, or large trees and jungle.
  • Still now, 14 species of Owl specialist found amongst birds of Bangladesh.
  • People locally calls it “pacha”.

Pigeon

Pigeon is a medium-small bird and looks so lovely. It is faithful and mostly considered domestic birds of Bangladesh. The pigeon can live in the house. Pigeon originally lives on the top floor; caves fabricated structure and cave near the sea. They eat mainly rice and other grains. Pigeon also fonds of insects, fruits, and vegetation. Generally, we locally calls them “kobutor”.

Woodpecker

It is a lovely bird and ‘medium-sized small bird. It has stiff tails with small legs and extended languages used to catch insects and fish. Woodpecker makes its nest to live in holes of the trees.
  • It builds a hole in the bark of trees and eats pests.
  • There are many types of Species of Woodpecker live in Bangladesh.
  • People locally called it by “kaththokra”.

Green Bee-Eater

Gree bee-eater is one of the common birds of Bangladesh. It is found almost everywhere around the country.

  • Its a beautiful bird with Green, Blue and yellow majestic feather.
  • Scientific Name “Merops orientalis”
  • Mainly lives on Bees and insects
  • Bee-Eater keeps a distance from household areas.
  • It can be found in crops field while harvesting time.

Jungle Myna
The Myna sometimes spelled ‘Maina’, is a member of the native birds of Bangladesh. An open omnivore forest bird with a strong territorial instinct it adapted very well to urban environments.

  • Scientific Name of Jungle Myna is ‘Acridotheres Fuscus’.
  • The Myna can easily identify by brown body, black hooded head.
  • It bears yellow spot behind the eye. The beak and legs are bright yellows in color.
  • There is a white spot on the outer primary feathers and the wing lining on the underside is white.
  • The sexes are similar and birds usually seen in pairs.

Pankouri

Pankouri is usually called snakebirds since of the bird have a long slim neck. They can swim easily under the water. As a result, there is no problem to catch fish. Fish is main food of Pankouri.
  • Pankouri looks black and can fly also swim which most of the birds cannot do.
  • Its English name is Darters.
  • In Bangladesh, you may see it in Baher Char, Rangabali, Patuakhali.
Pankouri is one of the common Birds of Bangladesh.

Black-Headed Oriole

They are very astonishing birds but despite the bright yellow and conflicting black head. They are not as easy to see as one might think. We see them fleetingly in wavy flight from tree to tree. We hear them call from the treetops, where they often are hidden from view.

  • The black-headed Oriole diet includes insects, caterpillars and other larvae, small fruits and berries, and nectar.
  • Its varied habitat includes forests, forest edges, coastal and coastal shrubs, plantations, farmland with large trees, parks and gardens.
  • The black-headed Oriole seems to be extending its range in increasingly larger urban areas.

The Robin

Bengali Birds List

We should think about bird’s meaning. Also if we update our list of Bengali birds to assess their nature and habitual trials and make ways for a better living. We have to remember, Birds are the most appreciated part of our natural eco-system and we have to keep them in health.
